II. SET-UP

The LC Jet can be used with either the central air supply in a hospital or a PARI compressor. For use with a central air supply, a flow range of 3.5-6 1/min. must be selected in order to achieve the specified droplet characteristics.

1. Check to ensure that the nebulizer has been cleaned, disinfected and/or sterilized since the last treatment (see section "Cleaning the LC Jet" and "Disinfecting and Sterilizing the LC Jet").

2. Pour prescribed medication (and diluent, if necessary) through the opening in the top of the nebulizer (1) and into bottom of nebulizer (5).

3. Attach mouthpiece (3) or mask (part # 14-20 and 14-15 not included) to nebulizer outlet.

4. Connect one end of the tubing (7) to the air intake (6) on the bottom of the nebulizer

5. Connect the other end of the tubing to the central air supply. If using a PRONEB or PARI Master compressor, insert the ridged end of the tubing adapter (8) into the end of the tubing as far as it will go. Insert the tubing adapter into the air outlet of the PRONEB or PARI Master compressor.

WARNING:

Check the LC Jet for proper assembly. All parts should be seated firmly in place. Use of an improperly assembled nebulizer could prevent adequate delivery of medication.

III. OPERATING PROCEDURE

1. Sit relaxed in upright position.

2. Turn on central air supply or PARI compressor.

3. Close lips around mouthpiece and inhale aerosol mist.

4. Remove nebulizer from mouth and exhale slowly. Do not exhale through mouthpiece.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until medication is gone.
