How Can You Measure Air Cleaner Performance?

Air cleaner particle removing performance is determined by two important factors: filter effectiveness and air circulation capacity.

Filter Effectiveness

Filter effectiveness is the percentage of particles that the filter removes from the air that passes through it. Honeywell enviracaire air cleaners utilize highly efficient true HEPA filters with Surround Seal HEPA filter technology to provide you with a quality air cleaning device.

Air Circulation Capacity

Air circulation capacity is measured in Air Changes per Hour (ACH), and is used to determine the room size for which an air cleaner is appropriate. Each ACH represents circulating the volume of air in the recommended room size through the air cleaner one time. While many air cleaners are rated on 3 ACH, Honeywell recommends its air cleaners based on a more stringent standard of 6 air changes per hour. For air cleaners of equivalent filter effectiveness, a higher ACH rating helps improve air quality more quickly. This higher standard may be more appropriate for allergy and asthma sufferers who may require more effective air cleaning performance.
